Dr Shamila Wanninayake
Dr Shamila Wanninayake is a Salaried GP and GP tutor for Oxford University. She has a special interest in Child Obesity and is passionate about tackling ‘one of the WHO’s global public health challenges for the 21st Century.’ Through her first degree in Psychology she was involved in pre-clinical Obesity Research. As Clinical Health Education Fellow she is currently working with a multidisciplinary team to develop a Child healthy weight pathway as part of Oxford City Council’s ‘Whole Systems Approach.’ She sits on the Board for the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) and is a member of the RCGP Special Interest Group for Nutrition. Over the last years she had been the Clinical Lead for the Oxford GP Federation where she has been developing an at-scale research programme.
