Dr Sharon Spooner
Dr Sharon Spooner is a GP and Clinical Lecturer in Primary Care at the University of Manchester. Her research is informed by working in different GP roles; retainee, partner, and salaried, and from her experience of being a GP trainer and educational supervisor.
Sharon’s research focuses primarily on the primary care workforce and service delivery. In addition to studies of GP recruitment and training, she is involved in projects investigating job satisfaction and job stress amongst GPs and analysis of patterns of GP turnover and retention.
She is particularly interested in exploring how changes driven by government health policy are implemented in GP practice settings and experienced by practitioners and patients and she is currently leading an NIHR-funded investigation into the scale, scope and impact of the changing primary care workforce. This study informs her conference presentation.
