Professor Mark Rickenbach
Mark Rickenbach is the RCGP Clinical Champion for continuity of Care. He has been a general practitioner, in his eight partner practice, of 17,000 patients, near Southampton, since 1991.
He initiated GP training and research in the practice and continues as a GP trainer, appraiser and mentor. As a GP course organiser, in Portsmouth, he set up GP education in hospital rotations, innovative training posts combining primary with secondary care, and systems for feedback on the quality of hospital based education. His PhD and later role as an Associate Dean for Health Education England led on to national models including the GMC National Training survey.
He has worked as PCN Clinical Director, is Primary Care Adviser to the Wessex Clinical Research Network and is a Visiting Professor of at Winchester University. He greatly enjoyed being a London Olympics games maker on the medical team for hockey and, depending on Lockdown, gets to do a bit of badminton, archery, and cycling.
