Rachel has lived with Crohn’s for nearly forty years. She was diagnosed in 1984 having experienced symptoms for two years since the age of five.
Since diagnosis she has undertaken a wide range of treatments as new medications have come on stream as well as undergone several major operations due to the debilitating complications of Crohns.
Rachel is a member of IBD Wales – led by Crohn’s and Colitis UK in collaboration with the Welsh Association for Gastroenterology and Endoscopy (WAGE) to drive up standards of care in Wales.
She lives in south Wales with her thirteen year old daughter and works as Wales Policy and Campaigns Manager for Parkinson’s UK.
She’s recently become a civilian volunteer with the RAF Air Cadets and her passion is hill walking, something that she wasn’t able to do prior to having a stoma twelve years ago.
